A MILESTONE WIN FOR THE VEES; STREAK CONTINUES
PENTICTON, BC- Two members of the Penticton Vees hit the 200 plateau in their respective careers. On an afternoon Travis St. Denis recorded his 200th career point, Head Coach Fred Harbinson recorded his 200th career win in the BCHL in a 3-1 victory over the Prince George Spruce Kings.

The win extends the Vees franchise win streak to 25; four back from tying the 23 year-old BCHL record.

The Vees opened the scoring just over thirteen minutes into the first period, and from an unlikely source.

Nick Buchanan’s wrist-shot eluded Ty Swabb for his first goal as a Vee and first of the season at 13:02; the goal came as the two teams were playing four-on-four.

Buchanan’s goal would hold up just past the thirteen minute mark of the second, before Leo Fitzgerald broke Mike Garteig’s shutout streak.

Fitzgerald broke down the left-wing and snapped a hard wrist-shot high on Garteig to end his shutout streak at 143 minutes and thirteen seconds.

In the third period the Vees continued to pressure the Spruce Kings end and finally broke through off the cycle deep in their zone.

Logan Johnston shoveled the puck to Wade Murphy who snapped the game winner through the legs of Swabb at 4:52; breaking a one-one tie.

Travis St. Denis iced the game on an individual effort in the Spruce Kings end. St. Denis out-hustled the back-checking forward and broke in on goal, roofing a shot over the glove of Swabb at 18:11.
