VEES DROP FIRST GAME OF THE DOYLE CUP

The Penticton Valley First Vees saw a nine game post season wining streak come to an end on Friday night in Camrose with a 3-1 loss to the Kodiaks in the opening game of the Best-of-Seven Doyle Cup.

The Valley First Vees fell behind after just 27 seconds and found themselves down 2-0 by the 14:56 mark.  Former Kodiak Eric Kroshus got Penticton on the board via the man advantage late in the first to make the score 2-1 following 20 minutes of play.

Camrose tallied its second powerplay goal early in period two, marking an end to the offensive output by either side.

The final shots were 27-22 in favour of the Valley First Vees, including a 13-6 margin in the second.  However, Penticton looked tentative most of the game and certainly didn?t exhibit the energy or type of hockey which has moved it to within one series of booking a place in the RBC (Royal Bank Cup) National Championship.

The club is determined to display a much better effort in Game Two, set for Saturday night, again at the Edgeworth Centre in Camrose.

Should the Valley First Vees win on Saturday night, the Kodiaks would also host Game Three on Sunday night.  Mind you, if the Kodiaks are able to go up Two Games to Nothing, the Third Game venue would be the Penticton Memorial Arena, Tuesday night, beginning at 7:00.
