DALPE & COLBORNE IN THE SPOTLIGHT

BURNABY, BC (April 16th, 2008)

Two likely First Round NHL Draft Picks will go head-to-head Friday when the puck drops on the 2008 Doyle Cup in Camrose, Alberta.  Penticton Vees? forward Zac Dalpe and Kodiaks? counterpart Joe Colborne will headline the event, which pits the Champions of the British Columbia and Alberta Junior ?A? Hockey Leagues in a Best-of-Seven series.

Dalpe and Colborne are two of junior hockey?s hottest prospects.  Dalpe was ranked 26th amongst North American skaters for this June?s NHL Entry Draft when the league?s central scouting bureau released its mid-term evaluations earlier in the year, while Colborne was pegged four spots later.  Both are expected to have risen up the list when the final rankings are announced in late April.

Penticton advanced to the Doyle Cup after sweeping the Nanaimo Clippers for the Fred Page Cup, the BCHL?s Championship Trophy.  The Vees enter their show-down with the AJHL winners on a nine game winning streak.  The winner of the   series, which will shift to Penticton next week, will advance to the RBC Royal Bank Cup, Canada?s Junior ?A? Championship.

Dalpe is one of eight Penticton Vees and more than 60 current BCHL players who have already secured a scholarship to play university or college hockey in the coming seasons.  In addition to the many pro scouts who will be in attendance at the Doyle Cup, two well-known NHL Executives will be watching the series closely.  The sons of Los Angeles Kings? Assistant General Manager Ron Hextall and Detroit Red Wings? counterpart Jim Nill both play for Penticton.
