VEES IN A HOLE AFTER FALLING IN SUDDEN DEATH

The Penticton Valley First Vees are headed home trailing the Best-of-Seven Doyle Cup Two Games to Nothing, following a 4-3 overtime loss to the Kodiaks, Saturday night in Camrose.

Penticton led 1-0 after the first, thanks to Zac Dalpe?s powerplay effort.

Camrose tied the game just over five minutes in the second period with a man advantage marker of its own.  The teams then combined for three goals in a span of only 2:06 late in the frame, leaving the Kodiaks ahead 3-2 after 40 minutes of play, with Zack Josepher getting the Valley First Vees? lone tally of the period.

Penticton?s Cory Schneider tied the game at 3-3, 8:48 into the third, eventually forcing overtime, which didn?t last long.   Camrose won the game on its first shot of sudden death off the stick of Owen Chatwin at the 1:12 mark, sending the Edgeworth Centre into a frenzy and pulling the Kodiaks to within two victories of their second consecutive trip to the RBC (Royal Bank Cup) National Championship.

For the second straight game, the Valley First Vees outshot Camrose, this time by a count of 35-29, including a 20-11 second period margin, oddly enough, a period in which they were outscored three to one.  Alex Evin suffered the setback in net.

The scene now shifts to the Penticton Memorial Arena, possibly for as many as five games.  What?s known for certain is that Game Three goes on Tuesday night, with Game Four taking place on Wednesday night, both getting underway at 7:00.

The Valley First Vees will be looking to climb back into the series on home ice, where they gone an impressive 7-1 in the post season.
