Wenatchee, WA: The Penticton Vees and Wenatchee Wild kicked off a home-and-home series to end the pre-season Friday night in Wenatchee, and it was the Wild skating away with a 5-1 win.

A scoreless first period saw the shots 13-11 in the Wild’s favour, along with a pair of shots that hit the post behind Derek Krall.

Wenatchee opened the scoring with a shot from the right wing circle deflected off a leg and went through the legs of Krall with 4:04 remaining in the second.

After the Wild made it 2-0 in the opening minutes of the third, David Silye scored his second of the pre-season with a perfectly-placed shot into the top corner over Austin Park’s blocker 8:23 into the third.

Unfortunately for the Vees that’s as close as they would get as Wenatchee tacked on three goals just two minutes apart in the second half of the period for a final score of 5-1.

The two teams meet again Saturday night at the South Okanagan Events Centre to wrap up the pre-season schedule. Puck drop is 6:00.
