Will Ingemann named BCHL First Star of the Month

PENTICTON, B.C. – The B.C. Hockey League (BCHL) announced the Three Stars of the month on Thursday, and Penticton Vees goaltender Will Ingemann has been named the First Star of February.

This is the second time Ingemann has been named one of the BCHL’s Three Stars of the Month. The 18-year-old was named the Third Star of November. It’s the second time in the last three months a Vee goaltender has taken home top honours. Andrew Ness was named the First Star of January.

Ingemann was perfect in February, as he posted a 4-0 record and didn’t allow a goal in any of his four starts. The Plymouth, Minnesota, product is riding a four-game shutout streak, which has stretched to 249:43 and counting. The BCHL longest shutout streak regular season record is 250:25, held by Brad Thiessen in 2005 with the Prince George Spruce Kings. The overall (regular season and playoffs) record is 252:17 set by Jonah Imoo with the Powell River Kings in 2012.

Ingemann started the streak back on February 4th, with a 4-0 win over the Merritt Centennials on the road. He then had to only make 10 saves in the Vees 8-0 blanking of the Prince George Spruce Kings in his next start on February 10th. The 5’11, 177-pound netminder posted his third consecutive shutout on February 17th, recording 21 saves in a 4-0 victory over the West Kelowna Warriors. He extended his shutout streak to four-straight games last Saturday, in the Vees 4-0 win in Cranbrook. Ingemann stopped all 66 shots he faced in February.

Ingemann who is committed to St. Thomas University, is 19-5-1-2 on the season, and sports a 1.75 goals-against average, .925 save percentage, and has six shutouts. He ranks first in the BCHL in goals-against average, and shutouts, second in save percentage, and third in wins. He is one shutout away from tying the BCHL single season record of seven.

The Vees (32-7-3-2) hit the road for a pair of games this weekend against the Langley Rivermen (14-26-5-0) Friday, and the Coquitlam Express (20-20-1-3) Saturday. Fans can watch both games on Flo Hockey TV and can listen to Bounce AM 800. Match Eatery & Public House will be showing both games as well on their TV’s.
