NEWS: Niedermayer Commits To Arizona State University

PENTICTON, BC. – The Penticton Vees Hockey Club are pleased to announce defenseman Josh Niedermayer (’04) has committed to Arizona State University.

Niedermayer, 17, is in his second season with the Vees, scoring 2 goals and adding 10 assists for 12 points over the course of 17 games played throughout the course of the 2021/22 season. The 6’0”, 192-pound defender has gotten into a total of 38 career BC Hockey League games, scoring 3 goals and registering 20 assists for 23 points from the blue line.

Josh will head to Arizona State and join older brother Jackson as a member of the Sun Devils after his junior hockey career has concluded. The Sun Devils play their games out of Oceanside Ice Arena in Tempe, Arizona and play as an Independent. Greg Powers has been behind the bench in Arizona State since the inception of the program as an NCAA Division I group ahead of the 2015/16 season.

The Vees (21-4-0-2) will conclude a stretch of five consecutive games against the West Kelowna Warriors (18-10-0-0) on Friday night at the South Okanagan Events Centre. Puck drop is slated for 7:00 PM with tickets available for purchase at the Valley First Box Office at the SOEC as well as online at valleyfirsttix.com. The game will also be broadcasted live on Bounce Radio 800 as well as streamed on BCHLTV.ca.
