GAME DAY: Pre-Season Opener

The Penticton Vees open their pre-season schedule tonight on the road, when the face the West Kelowna Warriors at Royal LePage Place. The Vees have just wrapped up their Main Camp and tonight marks the first of five exhibition games in the next seven days.

The Vees have trimmed their roster down to about thirty players after their three-day Main Camp at the SOEC. A second round of cuts is scheduled for late next week before the Vees play the Salmon Arm Silverbacks in a home-and-home series.

Four returnees will play in tonight's game, as Travis Blanleil, Cam Amantea, Josh Blanchard and Brayden Park will dress. Tonight's roster will be heavy on rookies and younger players looking to earn a roster spot. Hunter Miska will dress and start the game for the Vees in goal, as he makes his debut after coming over from the US National Development Program.

The Final score won't be the main focus, as tonight gives the coaching staff an opportunity to see how these hopefuls and rookies perform in a game situation. It's a team concept first but the coaching staff will also be grading individual performaces.

Face-off is scheduled for 7pm and admission at RLP is $5. You can listen to the game with Fraser Rodgers, starting at 6:50 pm at http://www.mixlr.com/penticton-vees
