Conti Commits to Alaska-Anchorage

The Penticton Vees Jr. ‘A’ Hockey Club is pleased to announce forward Anthony Conti (95) has committed to the University of Alaska-Anchorage for the 2015-2016 season.
 
Conti, 17, just completed his second and final season in the BC Major Midget League (BCMML) with the Northwest Giants, where he helped guide the club to their fifth consecutive league championship. Conti finished fifth in team scoring with 18 goals and 48 points in 35 games. The North Vancouver product carried his regular season success into the playoffs, where he strung together three goals and eight points in as many games, as the Giants downed the Okanagan Rockets in the best-of-three BCMML Final. Conti has the prototypical power forward frame and is known for his hard-nosed and relentless style of play.
 
With Conti’s commitment, two Vees have signed on to join the Alaska-Anchorage Seawolves in the last week; Olivier Mantha landed a scholarship last Friday. The Alaska-Anchorage hockey program was founded in1979 and the Seawolves have been a member of the Western Collegiate Hockey Association since 1993. The Vees now have 11 players on their roster with an NCAA Division l scholarship
 
Conti and the Vees lift the curtains on the 2013-2014 BCHL regular season tomorrow at the BCHL Bauer Showcase in Chilliwack; the Vees face the Victoria Grizzlies at 3:30pm. The game can be seen on www.fasthockey.com and fans can listen online, starting at 3:15pm at www.mixlr.com/penticton-vees
