Bennett Hits 100

The Penticton Vees organization would like to congratulate rookie forward Beau Bennett on eclipsing 100 points in this his rookie season.

With a four-point performance against the Smoke Eaters on Tuesday night in Trail, Beau now sits with 102 points on the season with a half-dozen games remaining on the schedule.

It has been seven years since a rookie eclipsed 100 points, when Brady Murray did it with the Salmon Arm Silverbacks in the 2002/2003 season. Making the achievement more impressive is the fact that Beau has missed five games to represent Team USA in the World Junior 'A' Challenge in Summerside, Prince Edward Island; and suited up for Team West at the CJHL Prospects Game in Winkler, Manitoba.

Hailing from Los Angeles, California – Beau has the unique opportunity to be drafted in his hometown this Spring, when the L.A. Kings host the annual NHL Entry Draft. Currently Beau is listed 48th among North American Skaters by NHL Central Scouting, but his stock has been rising with his stellar 2010 portion of the season.

Beau should be a shoe-in for the Interior Conference Rookie of the Year honours with a 30-point chasm between himself and second place in the rookie points race, and a 44 point cushion on his Interior Conference competition. The last two Interior Conference Rookie of the Year winners have been members of the Vees. In 2008 Zac Dalpe earned the nod, while last season Garrett Milan was honoured.

Bennett secured a NCAA scholarship to the Denver University Pioneers earlier this season. The Pioneers are currently ranked second in the NCAA, and have won seven NCAA Championships in their storied history.

The Vees congratulate Beau on his achievements so far this year.
