Vees Win Two Out of Three Games This Weekend

Friday night the Penticton Vees travelled to Westside where they beat the Warriors 4-3 in the second overtime period.  Westside opened the first period with two quick goals within 25 seconds of each other.  The Vees came back with two goals to tie up the game.  The Vees first goal was scored by newcomer Erik Slemp from Mitch Labreche and Colton Jobke.  The Vees second goal of the night was scored on a power play by Curtis McKenzie from Zack Josepher and Denver Manderson.  The second period was scoreless while the third period resulted in a tie.  Travis Ouellette scored with help from Ryan Viselli and Garrett Milan.  With less than five minutes left in the third period Westside scored on a penalty shot.  Six minutes into the second period of overtime Curtis McKenzie scored with help from Denver Manderson.  Westside outshot the Vees 33-28 shots.

 

Saturday night the Penticton Vees played the Trail Smoke Eaters at the Cominco Arena.  Curtis McKenzie opened the scoring up with less than three minutes into the first period with help from Denver Manderson.  The second period was scoreless while Trail tied up the game with a goal with less than a minute left in the third period.  The Smoke Eaters scored less than four minutes into the first overtime period to get the win.  The Smoke Eaters outshot the Vees 39-30 shots.  Sean Bonar earned the second star of the night with 38 saves

 

Sunday evening the Vees resumed home action when they hosted the Prince George Spruce Kings.  The Vees scored the lone goal in the first period less than four minutes into the game when Ryan Johansen scored with help from Mitch Labreche.  There were five goals in the second period.  Zack Josepher scored from Denver Manderson and Curtis McKenzie less than a minute into the second period.  Prince George scored their first goal on a power play, while the Vees came back with two more goals.  Travis Ouellette scored twice for the Vees both with help from Garrett Milan and Ryan Viselli.  Prince George came back with the second and last goal of the night with less than 30 seconds left in the second period.   The Vees went on to score two more goals in the third period.  Adam Zamec scored on a power play with help from Devon Krogh and Zack Josepher.  With less than two minutes left in the game Co-Captain Denver Manderson scored a short handed goal with help form Nathan Westover and Zack Josepher.  The Vees outshot the Spruce Kings 42-24 shots.
