NANNE’S HAT-TRICK POWER VEES IN ROMP OVER TRAIL
Penticton, BC– Louie Nanne registered a hat-trick and Wade Murphy tallied four assists, in a 7-2 drubbing of the Trail Smoke Eaters Saturday. The win pushes the Vees win streak to six games, and they also sweep their four game home stand.

However, the Vees did surrender the opening goal for the third straight game in the first period. Brent Baltus redirected a Shane Poulsen point-shot through Nic Renyard’s legs at 1:58. However, just like the two previous games, the Vees didn’t waiver and came to like life shortly after.

The power-play manufactured the tying goal for the Vees as they continued to ride their strong special teams play. Nanne tipped-in a slap-pass from Wade Murphy at 7:01 to draw even. That goal seemed to give the Vees a boost, as they scored twice more before the period was out.

Jordan McCallum gave the Vees their first lead at 16: 33 when he forced a puck over the Trail goal-line. The goal was under a shroud of controversy, as the Referee didn’t signal a goal right away; after the officials talked it over the goal stood. Alex Jewell padded the Vees lead on a nice individual rush down the left-wing. Jewell skated into the left-circle before rifling a shot over the blocker of Braden Krogfoss at 19:12.

The Vees added two more goals in the middle frame; Mike Rebry scored his eighth on wrist-shot from the left-circle at 11:06. Four minutes later Troy Stecher scored his first on an in-close wrist-shot at 14:51; Stecher putting a shot in the corner over Krogfoss’s left arm.

In the third period the Vees added two more goals, both coming off the stick of Nanne. His second of the game came at 9:23; Nanne followed up his own rebound and stuffed the puck past Krogfoss’s blocker-side. Nanne completed the hat-trick on a breakaway, courtesy of a beautiful stretch-pass from Noah Henry. Nanne sped in and put a wrist-shot underneath the glove of the Trail goalie at 14:36.

Mitch Foyle scored his first career BCHL at 15:41 to round out the scoring; Foyle tapping-in a pass at the far-post.
