Vees, Silverbacks Swing Deal.

The Penticton Vees Jr. ‘A’ Hockey Club has acquired the CJHL playing rights of forward Connor Chartier (94) from the Salmon Arm Silverbacks for forward Josh Laframboise (96).

 

Vees President, General Manager and Head Coach, Fred Harbinson says the move will not only make an immediate impact but down the road as well, “We all know come playoff time, 20-year-old experience in junior hockey is critical. Connor will add maturity to our line-up and undeniable passion for the game.”

 

Chartier, 20, was most recently with the Spokane Chiefs of the Western Hockey League (WHL) where he spent parts of four seasons. Chartier had one assist in 12 games to go along with 10 penalty-minutes with the Chiefs this season. The Calgary, Alberta, product appeared in all 72 regular season games with Spokane last year, setting a career high in goals (14) and points (32). Chartier brings plenty of experience to Penticton, as he’s played in 209 career regular season games in the WHL. Chartier has also played in 25 WHL playoff games collecting one goal and five points. The two-way forward is a graduate of the UFA Bisons Midget program in Calgary.

 

Laframboise, 18, played in 21 games for the Vees and tabulated three goals and eight points. The Regina, Saskatchewan, native came to the Vees from the Battlefords Stars Midget program. Laframboise had 33 goals and 61 points in 41 regular season games with Battlefords and another 20 points in 10 playoff games. Laframboise is committed to the University of Minnesota-Duluth for the fall of 2016.

 

Chartier is expected to arrive in Penticton this weekend and will make his Vees debut on Wednesday, November 19th when they host the Langley Rivermen at the SOEC.  The Vees wish all the best to Josh in his future with the Salmon Arm Silverbacks.
