Vees announce defenceman Leon Matthiasson requires season-ending injury

Penticton, BC. – The Penticton Vees Junior Hockey Club regrets to announce defenceman Leon Matthiasson (’03) will undergo season-ending surgery due to a lower body injury.

The Timra, Sweden, product was one of the Vees two European import players on their roster. Matthiasson signed with the Vees in June after playing last season with the Växjö Lakers in the Swedish J20 Nationell. The 6’2, 192-pound defenceman compiled five points (2G, 3A) in eight regular season games before his injury.

The team also announced forward Anselmo Rego (’05) was placed on the 30-day Injured Reserve, retroactive to November 7th. Rego suffered an upper body injury last month and is eligible to return in December. The Brampton, ON, product has six points (3G, 3A) in 13 games.
