VEES ADD SOUGHT AFTER FORWARD

PENTICTON, BC – The Penticton Vees Jr. ‘A’ Hockey Club is pleased to announce forward Tyson Jost (98) has committed for the 2014-15 season.

President, General Manager and Head Coach Fred Harbinson says the team is thrilled to have the talented forward in the fold, “We have had the opportunity to build a relationship with Tyson and his family. He has attended our camps in the past and we are excited to have the opportunity to be a part of his hockey development moving forward.”

Jost, 16, comes to the Vees via the Okanagan Rockets of the BC Major Midget League (BCMML). Jost was the BCMML scoring champion in his first and only season, putting an eye-popping 44 goals and 88 points in just 36 regular season games. He led the league in playoff scoring as well, racking up nine goals and 18 points in seven games, leading the Rockets to their second BCMML championship. The Rockets advanced to their first Telus Cup Midget National Championship after beating Red Deer in a three-game Pacific Region Qualifier. Jost had three goals and six points in seven games at the Telus Cup in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, as the Rockets took home the bronze medal.

Jost was named to the 2013-2014 BCMML All-Star team and was named the Rockets Most Valuable Player, Top Scorer and Rookie of the Year. Jost also picked up a silver medal in November with Team BC at the 2013 Western Canada U-16 Challenge Cup in Calgary; Jost was named to the tournament All-Star team.

Jost was the Everett Silvertips first selection, seventh overall, in the 2013 Western Hockey League Bantam Draft. Jost hails from Leduc, Alberta, but later moved to Kelowna, BC, when he suited up for the Pursuit of Excellence’s Under 16 team back in the fall of 2012.

The Penticton Vees would like to welcome Jost to Penticton and the South Okanagan.
