Penticton, BC: The Penticton Vees are very pleased to announce that Neil Jamieson and Underwriters Insurance have graciously committed to donating $92 per goal Cassidy Bowes scores during the 2018-19 season to his GoFundMe campaign.

The campaign, started by Bowes in August, is raising money for children’s cancer research as Bowes continues to grow out his hair. Once Bowes reaches his goal of $9,292, he will cut his hair and donate it to help make wigs.

“We have decided to donate $92 per goal in reference to Cassidy’s jersey number,” Jamieson said.

As of October 9 Bowes has raised $2,490 from 23 donors.

“I’m very thankful that Neil and Underwriters Insurance have decided to support me in my fundraising goal,” said Bowes. “I can’t thank everyone enough for the support they’ve shown both through the GoFundMe and in person. I would love to see more local businesses follow in Underwriters footsteps so we can reach, and exceed the original goal.”

Bowes scored 16 goals as a rookie last season and is expected to play his first game of the season Wednesday when the Vees host the Merritt Centennials. He missed the opening nine games of the season recovering from offseason surgery.
