Three Vees Selected for CJHL Prospects Game

The Canadian Junior Hockey League (CJHL), in partnership with NHL Central Scouting, announced today the rosters for the CJHL Prospects Game and three Vees were named to Team West.

Defensemen Gabe Bast (96) and Jarod Hilderman (97), along with forward Lewis Zerter-Gossage (95) are among 12 BCHL players selected for the Prospects Game that’s set for January 20th, in Oakville, Ontario. The Vees are the only BCHL team that has three players participating in the event, as no other BCHL team had more than two players on Team West.

Bast, 18, recently committed to the University of North Dakota and leads all Vees defensemen in scoring with 24 points in 33 games.  It’s been quite the year for Bast, as he also suited up for Team Canada West at the 2014 World Junior ‘A’ Challenge in Kindersley, Saskatchewan in December.

Hilderman is in his second season with the Vees and the rear-guard has six assists in 37 games, as he’s relished a more defensive role with the team this season. Hilderman was a regular on the Vees blue-line last season as a 16-year-old and is committed to the University of Minnesota-Duluth.

Zerter-Gossage is enjoying a solid first season in the BCHL as a 19-year-old. The Montreal, Quebec product is third in team scoring with 13 goals and 33 points in 39 games. The rangy power-forward has been playing well of late, as he has a goal and five points in as many games. Zerter-Gossage is committed to Harvard University for next season.

The CJHL Prospects Game showcases the top NHL prospects in the CJHL as identified by NHL Central Scouting. Team West is comprised of players from the CJHL’s five western leagues (BCHL, AJHL, SJHL, MJHL, and SIJHL).
