Soleway Joins the Badgers

PENTICTON, BC– The Penticton Vees Jr. ‘A’ Hockey Club is pleased to announce, forward Jedd Soleway has committed to the University of Wisconsin Badgers for the 2014-2015 season.  Soleway becomes the 13th player of the Vees’ roster to secure an NCAA Division l scholarship.
 
Soleway, 18, was recently acquired in a trade with the Vernon Vipers. He has made a seamless transition since coming over from the Vipers, picking up two goals and five points in just four games with the Vees. This season, between Penticton and Vernon, Soleway has strung together seven goals and 22 point in 30 games. In 88 career games, Soleway has amassed 47 points. The Vernon native graduated from the Okanagan Rockets Major Midget program, where he put up 16 goals and 33 points in 40 games in 2010-2011.
 
The Badgers based in Madison, Wisconsin and are one of the more storied Division 1 men’s hockey programs, playing top-flight college hockey since 1963. The Badgers play in the Western Collegiate Hockey Association (WCHA). To date, the Badgers are one of the most decorated programs in the WCHA. Wisconsin has won 11 Conference Tournament Championship, three Conference Regular Season Championships, and has raked in the hardware on the national stage.
 
Wisconsin has made 24 NCAA Tournament Appearances, making it to the NCAA Frozen Four 12 times and has won six NCAA National Championships; last winning in 2006 and were runners-up in 2010.
 
Recent Vees alum goaltender Joel Rumpel, is currently in his sophomore season in Madison. 22 Badger alumni skated in the NHL in 2011-2012, second most of any collegiate team. NHL alumni include Danny Heatley, Ryan Suter, Derek Stepan and Ryan McDonagh to name a few.
