PENTICTON, B.C. – The Penticton Vees Junior ‘A’ Hockey Club announced Thursday the team has traded defenseman Peter Muzyka (’00) to the Powell River Kings in exchange for future considerations.

Muzyka, 20, played the 2018/19 season with the Vees before making his way to Cornell University. The 6’2”, 174-pound rearguard posted three assists in 39 games to go along with 36 penalty minutes. Muzyka played two seasons before coming to the Okanagan with the North York Rangers in the OJHL, amassing 8 goals and 29 points in 109 games played during his tenure in Ontario.

The Toronto, Ontario native returned to the Vees from Cornell to begin the 2020/21 season but was moved due to the Vees number of 20-year-olds, as explained by President, General Manager and Head Coach, Fred Harbinson, “We wanted to give Peter a chance to go somewhere that he could get playing time in a critical season for him. We also had to get to the number of 20-year-olds that our roster can allow which made us have to make this move.”

The Vees would like to thank Peter for his contributions to the Vees organization and the City of Penticton and wish him the best in Powell River.

The Vees hit the ice for the first time to begin their 12-game Okanagan Cup exhibition tournament, kicking off Friday night at the South Okanagan Events Centre against the Salmon Arm Silverbacks. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, fans will not be permitted to be in attendance but the game will be streamed with a FREE audio link at mixlr.com/pentictonvees as well as on HockeyTV.com.
