NEWS: Vees Defender Arnott Commits To Maine

PENTICTON, BC. – The Penticton Vees Hockey Club is pleased to announce defenseman     Grayson Arnott (’01) has committed to the University of Maine for the 2022/23 season.

Arnott, 20, is in his 2nd season with the Vees after being acquired by the team ahead of the Pod Season last year in Penticton. The 5’9”, 170-pound rearguard posted 4 goals and 7 assists to tie for the team lead on the blue line with 11 points including adding a power play goal. Thus far through four games this season, the defender has posted 3 assists from the back end.

The Toronto, Ontario native played for the Oakville Blades prior to his time in Penticton, scoring 7 goals and 20 assists for 27 points in 51 games during the 2019/20 season while playing his minor hockey with St. Andrew’s College in Ontario. Grayson’s brother, Callum, is slated to suit up for the Vees for the upcoming 2022/23 season.

“It’s such an honour to be able to be a part of such a great program like Maine,” said the Vees defender, “Being able to join four of my teammates with the Black Bears in the years to come is something very special to me as well.”

Arnott joins Vees forwards Bradley and Josh Nadeau well as Thomas Pichette and defenseman Ryan Hopkins as commits to Maine University. Maine plays their games out of Orono, Maine and the Alfond Arena and play in the Hockey East conference. Head Coach Ben Barr is in his first season with the Black Bears.

The Vees (5-0-0-0) play the final game of their three-game stretch away from home as they face-off against the Prince George Spruce Kings (5-1-0-0) on Wednesday night. Puck drop is slated for 7:00 PM from the Rolling Mix Concrete Arena with the game being broadcasted on Bounce Radio 800 as well as streamed on BCHLTV.ca beginning with the pre-game show at 6:40 PM.
