Jones Among Western Canada Cup Award Winners

Teams, dignitaries and fans gathered at the SOEC Friday night for the Western Canada Cup Awards Gala, as the tournament paused for a night before resuming with two games Saturday.

Penticton alumni Brendan Morrison, Andy Moog and Troy Stecher were on hand as well, as the three took part in a media panel during the Awards Gala. The WCC directorate also handed out the tournament hardware and it was headlined by the Brooks Bandits, as both Mitch Benson and Parker Foo  won multiple awards.

Kim Davis, Commissioner of the MJHL, Ryan Bartoshyk Commissioner of the AJHL, John Grisdale Commissioner of the BCHL and SJHL President Bill Chow were on hand to present individual awards, along with the All-Tournament Team Awards.

Top Scorer: Parker Foo, Brooks Bandits

Top Defensemen: Cale Makar, Brooks Bandits

Top Forward: Nicholas Jones, Penticton Vees

MVP: Mitch Benson, Brooks Bandits

Forwards: Nicholas Jones, Penticton Vees. Parker Foo and Josh McKechney, Brooks Bandits

The playoff round kicks-off Saturday afternoon with the hosts Penticton Vees facing the Battlefords North Stars at 2pm PT, in the 3rd versus 4th elimination game. That evening it’s the undefeated Brooks Bandits battling the Chilliwack Chiefs for the Western Canada Cup championship at 7 pm PT.
