Last Game: Penticton extended their season-opening win streak to five games with their 6-0 win over the Merritt Centennials on Friday. Bradly Nadeau and Aydar Suniev each had a pair of goals last night; Suniev finished with a game-high three points. Jackson Nieuwendyk and Ryan Hopkins also scored in the win. Hank Levy stopped 19 shots to record his first career BCHL shutout in his first start as a Vee. Penticton led 3-0 after the first period and 6-0 after 40 minutes. Nieuwendyk opened the scoring six and a half minutes into the game, then Nadeau and Suniev scored 13 seconds apart to make it 3-0 eight minutes into the game. Nadeau and Suniev scored again in the second period along with Hopkins. The Vees are now 3-0-0-0 at the SOEC, outscoring the opposition 20-2.

Tonight’s Game: Tonight, is the second of five meetings with the Silverbacks. Eight days ago the Vees picked up a 6-1 road win over Salmon Arm at the Shaw Centre. Last Friday’s contest was scoreless after the first period and tied 1-1 midway through the second, before the Vees pulled away in the back half of the middle frame. Bradly Nadeau, Josh Nadeau, Brett Moravec, Jackson Nieuwendyk, Billy Norcross, and Aydar Suniev have all scored against the ‘Backs this season. Josh Nadeau had three points (1G, 2A) in last Friday’s win. Looks like Luca Di Pasquo will get the nod in net after backing up Friday. Di Pasquo is 4-0 with a 1.50 goals-against average and .919 save percentage. Forward Beanie Richter is a game-time decision, as he has been sidelined for the last four games with an upper body injury. A win tonight and the Vees would better the start they had during the 2021-22 season, when they were 5-1-0-0 in their first six games.

Salmon Arm opened the scoring in the first period, but the Vipers went on to score four-straight to go up 4-1 in the second period. From there, the two teams traded goals over the final 30 minutes of the game. Isaac Lambert (2G, 1A) and Owen Beckner (1G, 2A) each had three points in the loss for the Silverbacks. 17-year-old rookie Carter Richardson got the start in net for Salmon Arm and surrendered six goals on 29 shots. Friday was the ‘Backs first road lost of the season.
