The Penticton Vees head to the North Okanagan for Game Three tonight in Salmon Arm. Penticton earned a split with their 4-1 Game Two win on Saturday, as the series is tied 1-1 heading to the Shaw Centre.

Saturday was a solid bounce back effort for the Vees, as they finally cracked Eli Pulver and the Silverbacks. It took until the halfway mark of the second period in Game Two for the Vees to get their first goal of the series. That came via a penalty shot goal by James Fisher. That seemed to lift a weight of their shoulders, as they went on to score three more times.

Billy Renfrew, Connor MacPherson, and Callum Arnott also scored for the Vees in Game Two.

Will Ingemann had a solid showing between the pipes, as he improved to 6-0 in the postseason as he made 27 saves. He was the first star.

Another key to Game Two’s win was scoring first. After being shutout in Game One, it felt like scoring first in Game Two would provide a boost of confidence and a weight off their shoulders. It did. The Vees are now 5-1 when scoring first in the postseason. Even though they’re 4-1 when allowing the game’s first goal, playing from behind can be taxing, especially against a team like the Silverbacks.

The Vees now head on the road for two over the next three days; Tuesday is an off day between Games Three and Four. Penticton is 3-1 on the road through two road of the playoffs. Their only loss was in overtime to Vernon in Game Four of their last series.

James Fisher’s goal on Saturday was his first since Game Two against Vernon; four game stretch. He is the type of player that can score in bunches. If he can get on a roll, he can be a big ‘X’ factor for the Vees.

Don’t expect any lineup changes from Penticton ahead of Game Three. Will Ingemann is the Vees’ projected starter. He’s been excellent on the road in the playoffs, owning 2-0 record with a 1.00 GAA and .957 SV%; he has one shutout.

The Silverbacks look to turn home ice into a series lead, as they return to the Shaw Centre.

Salmon Arm will be happy coming home with a split after the weekend. They’ve been a good home team in the playoffs, winning four of five at the Shaw Centre. Going back to the regular season, the Silverbacks are 24-6-0-2 on home this season. In the season series against Penticton, they won three of four at the Shaw Centre.

Jonah Aegerter (1-1-2) and JJ Monteiro (0-2-2) each have two points in the first two games of the series. The two are paired on. Line with Reid Varkonyi and that line has been their best in a pair of games.

Through two games, Eli Pulver has stopped 69 of 72 shots. The 20-year-old sports a 1.53 goals-against average (GAA) and .958 save percentage (SV%)through two games of the series.
