The Vees look to extend their win streak to seven games today, as they visit the Salmon Arm Silverbacks in a Family Day matinee in the North Shuswap.

Penticton won their sixth in a row on Saturday, blanking the West Kelowna Warriors 4-0 in front of over 3,400 fans at the SOEC. Will Ingemann picked up his third consecutive shutout and the Vees got goals from Callum Arnott, Thomas Pichette, Ryan MacPherson, and Cade Littler.

It’s been a good start to the Family Day long weekend for the Vees, winning against Vernon and West Kelowna. Now, they look to finish it off with a win over the Silverbacks. Those two wins have helped the Vees pad their lead atop of the Interior Standings. Penticton is seven points up on second place West Kelowna, 12 points ahead of third place Salmon Arm. The Vees are arguably playing their best hockey of the season. Penticton has won nine of their last 10 and have outscored the opposition 29-5 on their six-game win streak.

Today is the fifth of six meetings with the Silverbacks. Penticton earned their first win against the Silverbacks in their last meeting on February 2nd, beating Salmon Arm 5-2. The ‘Backs did win the first three games of the season series. After today, the season series wraps up in Penticton on March 23rd.

Andrew Ness gets the call between the pipes today. The 19-year-old has won his last nine starts and is coming off 25-save win on Friday against Vernon. Ness has one win against Salmon Arm.

Callum Arnott enters today’s game riding a six-game point streak. The Vees’ co-captain has six goals and nine points in his last six. Conyr Hellyer also has a six-game point streak. Hellyer has seven points in his last six games.

As a team, Penticton has surrendered just two goals in their last four games and have held the opposition to two or less goals in nine of their last 10 games.

The Silverbacks are coming off back-to-back 5-4 losses on the weekend to West Kelowna and Vernon. Salmon Arm is in a bit of a funk of late, having lost four of their last five games.

On Saturday, Vernon scored the game-winner with less than a minute to go in regulation to break a 4-4 tie. Salmon Arm came back from an early 2-0 deficit in the first period and scored twice in 10 seconds to tie it before the first intermission. The two teams traded goals in the second to be tied 4-4, before Vernon’s Julian Facchinelli scored the winner with 44 seconds left in the third.

Salmon Arm may be zeroing in on their start today. In their last two games, they have given up six first period goals. They also have been scored on first in each of their last five games.

Maddux Martin is riding a seven-game point streak entering Monday’s game. Martin has nine points in his last seven. Cole Cooksey has scored three goals in his last two games.

Salmon Arm has four new faces in their lineup since these two teams last met on February 2nd. The new additions include defencemen Max Ranström from Prince George and three former USHL players in Tanner Walos, Patrick Raftery, and Ryan Philbrick.
