Last Game:  The Vees stretched their win streak to seven following Friday’s 5-4 overtime win on the road against the Merritt Centennials. Bradly Nadeau was the star Friday, as he scored in overtime, one of his two goals, in a four-point game (2G, 2A). Dovar Tinling, Ben Brunette, and Aydar Suniev also scored in the victory. Hank Levy made 13 saves to earn his second win in two starts. The power play continued to hum along, scoring twice on five opportunities. The penalty kill was 1-1. It was a back and forth game, as the Vees led 2-0 in the first, trailed 3-2 midway through the second, retook the lead at 4-3 in the third, to eventually win 5-4 in the extra frame. Penticton is 2-0-0 against the Centennials this season. The two teams don’t meet again until December 14th.

Tonight’s Game: Tonight, is the first of five regular season meetings with the Vernon Vipers. Last season, the Vees were 5-0-0-0 against the Vipers, with one of those victories coming in overtime. In fact, Penticton has won 14 of the last 18 regular season meetings with Vernon. The Vees are 6-2-0-0 in their last eight games at Kal Tire Place. Penticton is in the middle of a five-game stretch on the road, as after tonight they head to Chilliwack next week for two midweek games against the Chiefs and Alberni Valley Bulldogs at the BCHL Showcase, before going across the border to face the Wenatchee Wild on October 22nd. Bradly Nadeau leads the BCHL in scoring with 16 points (6G, 10A) in seven games. Brother Josh is right behind him with 12 points (3G, 9A). Aydar Suniev leads the BCHL in goals with seven.

Looking at tonight’s lineup, Luca Di Pasquo will likely get the nod in net for the Vees. The 19-year-old from Michigan is 5-0 with a 1.40 goals-against average and .926 save percentage. 20-year-old defenceman Mason Poolman could return to the lineup after sitting out Friday’s contest with a lower body injury.

Ethan Merner tied it for Vernon one minutes into the third period. the Spruce Kings won the four-round shootout, as Kilian McGregor-Bennett was the only player to score out of eight shooters. Friday was the second-straight game the Vipers have gone to the shootout, as the beat Victoria 2-1 in the skills competition last Saturday. Tonight’s Game: Jason McKee has been busy retooling his roster, as he has brought in defencemen Anson McMaster (Victoria) and Matthew Sutter (Calgary) and forward Ethan Rowland (Kamloops) from the WHL, and traded for forward Bowden Singleton from the Okotoks Oilers.
