Last Game: Penticton had their five-game win streak halted by the Victoria Grizzlies, Saturday at the Q Centre on Vancouver Island. The Vees came back from a 2-0 first period deficit and led 3-2 one point in the third period, before the Grizzlies tied it and eventually won in the shootout. Aydar Suniev, Brett Moravec, and Jackson Nieuwendyk scored for Penticton. Luca Di Pasquo stopped 15 of 16 shots in relief. Hank Levy started but was pulled after surrendering two goals on four shots in eight minutes. Saturday was the Vees’ first overtime loss of the season. They were 5-0.

Tonight’s Game: First and only meeting in the regular season against the Coquitlam Express. Tonight, is the first time these two teams have met since February 14th, 2020, when the Express earned a 3-2 victory at the SOEC. That season Coquitlam finished first overall in the BCHL, six points ahead of the Vees, with 47 wins and 96 points.

Penticton is getting some reinforcements upfront, as forwards Cal Arnott and Billy Norcross are likely to make their return to the lineup. Both have missed the last five games due to injury. Both were hurt January 13th in Trail. Defenceman Ben Brunette is still day-to-day.

Last Game: The Express snapped their two-game losing streak on Wednesday, beating the Chilliwack Chiefs 3-2 in the shootout at home. It was the Express’ second shootout win over the Chiefs in 10 days. Coquitlam led 2-0 after two periods, but the Chiefs forced overtime with two, third period goals. Evan Brown was the only player to score, on both sides, in the three-round shootout. Coquitlam improved to 5-1-2-0 against the Chiefs.

Sexton’s Return: Former Vees’ captain and Assistant Coach Patrick Sexton makes his much-anticipated return to the SOEC. Sexton is in his first season as the Express’ Head Coach. He was the Vees’ Assistant Coach from 2019-2022 and played for Penticton from 2013-2015. The alumnus won a Fred Page Cup with the Vees as a player (2015) and as a coach (2022). Sexton has his team sitting fifth in the Coastal Conference, just a single point back of the Chiefs for third. Third through sixth in the Coastal Conference is separated by just three points.


Pink the Rink: Tonight, is the Vees 8th annual Pink the Rink Anti-Bullying night, sponsored by COBS Bread Bakery. Over 4,000 fans are expected as 11 elementary schools will be in attendance, as they promote Anti-Bullying awareness. Fans are encouraged to wear pink in support of Anti-Bullying.
