Last Game: The Vees extended their win streak to four games with a convincing 9-2 victory over the West Kelowna Warriors on Friday night. Bradly and Josh Nadeau combined for 11 points in the win. Bradly had six points (1G, 5A) and older brother Josh had five (3G, 2A). Dovar Tinling (2G, 1A) and Aydar Suniev (0G, 3A) each had three point games. Penticton improved to 6-0 against the Warriors this season.

Today’s Game: Penticton rings in 2023 with a New Year’s Day clash with the Vernon Vipers. The Vees last played Vernon back on Remembrance Day, when they picked up a 6-2 win. Penticton has outscored the Vipers 14-4 in two wins this season. Today’s game is the Vees first trip to Kal Tire Place since late October. The Vees are looking to extend their win streak to five games. Today’s game marks the second time in the last three years these two teams have played on New Year’s Day. Back on Jan. 1, 2020, the Vees won 3-1 at Kal Tire Place.

Streaks: Brett Moravec’s four-game goal scoring streak is tied for the longest active streak in the BCHL. Over his last four games, Moravec has scored seven goals and collected nine points. Bradly Nadeau has the second-longest active point streak in the league at five games. In his last five he has compiled 11 points (2G, 9A).

Last Game: Ethan David stopped 22 shots for his second shutout of the season as the Vipers blanked the Merritt Centennials 4-0 Friday. Ethan Sundar, Ayden Third,Reagan Milburn, and Lee Parks scored for Vernon. The Vipers led 1-0 through 20 minutes, 2-0 after two periods, and added two more goals in the final frame. Parks goals was into an empty net.

Scouting Report: The Vipers have won back-to-back games and five of their last seven heading into today’s match up with Penticton. Since early December, Vernon has arguably been playing their best hockey of the season. Their strong play of late has them within striking distance of the top four in the Interior. The Vipers don’t score a ton, as their 77 goals is second fewest in the BCHL, but they do have three players who have hit double digits in goals. Reagan Milburn, Luke Pakulak, and Lee Parks all have 10 goals. On the flip side, they have been pretty good defensively, led by a very solid goaltending tandem in Ethan David and Roan Clarke. Both are Top 10 in the BCHL in goals-against average and Top 12 in save percentage. A win today and the Vipers would be just two points out of third place.
