The Penticton Vees, in partnership with Gateway Casinos, are proud to announce the continuation of two community initiatives for the 2016-2017 season.
Back for a second season is the “Gateway Casinos Community Zone,” which provides local charitable groups and organizations an opportunity to watch Vees hockey from the comfort of sofas and chairs below section 115 at no charge.
“The Community Zone was such a tremendous hit with groups across the South Okanagan last season, and we’re thrilled that Gateway Casino wanted to bring it back this year,” said Vees’ Director of Player Development and Corporate Sales David Michaud
”After the success of the Community Zone last season, especially when you saw the kids enjoying the game at ice level like they were out there with the Vees, I knew we had to bring this back,” said Michael Magnusson, General Manager of Lake City Casino Penticton.
“I’m so happy that our company has the Gateway GIVES program so that we can support community initiatives like this.”
The Vees are also excited to announce that Gateway Casinos will be once again donate $20 for each goal the Vees score at home during the regular season and playoffs, to the South Okanagan Medical Foundation. Last year, Gateway donated $3,255 for 157 goals scored by the Vees in the regular season and playoffs at the SOEC.
“Last season was an expensive one for Gateway and hopefully our players can fill the net in bunches once again at home,” said Michaud.
“I know the Vees don’t need any added incentive to score goals, but I’d love to see them exceed last year’s amount of home game goals so that at the end of the season we can help the South Okanagan Similkimeen Medical Foundation get a few steps closer to their $20M goal,” said Magnusson.
“The money will be used to supply the new Patient Care Tower with all the necessary medical equipment, and give the dedicated team at Penticton Regional Hospital the tools and resources to provide a higher quality of care for all of us.”
