VIPERS CLIMB BACK INTO SERIES WITH 3-2 SUDDEN DEATH VICTORY

There will definitely be a fifth game in Penticton on Friday night after the Valley First Vees dropped a 3-2 overtime decision to the Vipers, Tuesday night at the Vernon Multi-Plex.  Penticton still leads the Best-of-Seven Interior Conference Semi-Final Playoff Series Two Games to One.

Trailing 2-0 after 40 minutes, the Valley First Vees got two quick goals just over a minute apart, from Brett Hextall and Kyle McMurphy respectively, to tie the game 1:22 into the third period.  Both clubs hit a post down the stretch, but overtime was needed to settle things.

Kellen Jones scored the sudden death winner 3:43 into extra time, a goal which wasn?t without some controversy.  Alex Evin was pushed into the net with the puck on the play, however, the tally still counted.

Penticton continues to struggle on the powerplay, going zero for six with the man advantage.  After scoring on their first two powerplay opportunities of the post season, the Valley First Vees have now gone 16 straight chances without converting.  The penalty kill allowed its first playoff goal against, killing five of six Vernon advantages.

Alex Evin suffered his first loss of the post season, making 34 saves on 37 shots, holding Penticton in the contest through the first two periods.  The Valley First Vees managed just five shots on goal in each of the first two periods and were outshot 37-28 overall.

Game Four goes Wednesday night at 7:00 at the Multi-Plex.
