Vees name Anselmo Rego Alternate Captain

PENTICTON, B.C. – The Penticton Vees Junior Hockey Club is pleased to announce forward Anselmo Rego has been named an Alternate Captain for the 2024-25 season, the team announced Thursday.

Rego joins previously announced Captain Conyr Hellyer and Alternate Captains Nolan Stevenson and Brock Reinhart as the Vees’ leadership group for the 2024-25 season.

“Every captain on our leadership team brings a needed element for our group. Anselmo brings a positive energy to the rink on a daily basis that is simply contagious,” commented Vees’ President, General Manager & Head Coach Fred Harbinson.

Rego, is entering his second season with the Vees. The Brampton, Ontario, product had 21 points (11G, 10A) in 38 regular season games a season ago. He added nine points, four goals, in 22 playoff games. Two of his playoff goals were game winners. Most notably he scored the overtime winner, shorthanded, in the Vees 4-3 win over the Vernon Vipers in game one of their second round series.

“Very grateful to be named assistant captain for this upcoming season. Excited to help lead this group to the next level,” stated Rego.

The Vees open the 2024-25 BCHL regular season on Friday, September 21st, versus the Spruce Grove Saints at Grant Fuhr Arena. Fans can follow the game on FloHockey TV, or they can listen to Bounce 800 AM.

Single game tickets are available for the Vees home opener on Friday, October 4th, against the Okotoks Oilers. Tickets are $18 for adults and free for youth 18 and under, courtesy of Peters Brothers Construction.
