Vees Defeat the Merritt Centennials

Wednesday night the Penticton Vees were in Merritt for their last match up against the Centennials for the 2008/2009 hockey season.  The Vees came on strong scoring their first goal at 1:39 in the first period.  Eric Slemp scored with assists from Adam Zamec and Curtis McKenzie.  The Vees second goal came on a power play at 8:48 when Curtis McKenzie shot one in with help from Garrett Milan and Zack Josepher.  Merritt scored the only goal in the second period on a power play.  Heading into the third period the Vees had a 2-1 lead.  Merritt scored the first goal of the third period on a power play, followed by a Vees power play goal less than two minutes later.  Curtis McKenzie netted a goal with assists from Brodie Reid and Zack Josepher.  Penticton kept on rolling with another power play goal scored by Ryan Viselli with help from Ryan Johansen and Travis Ouellette.  Adam Zamec scored an even strength goal at 16:36 with assists from Devon Krogh and Curtis McKenzie.  The Vees last goal of the game was a power play goal by Joey Holka with help form Brad Reid and Matt Paltridge. The Vees out shot the Centennials 42-26.  Curtis McKenzie was honored with the first star and Joey Holka was honored with the third star. 

 

The Vees resume hockey action Friday night when they host the Salmon Arm Silverbacks and Saturday night when they host the Vernon Vipers.
