VEES BREAK OUT THE BROOMS IN CAPTURING THE BCHL CROWN

?How sweep it is? for the Penticton Valley First Vees!

It?s not an incredible surprise that the Valley First Vees won this season?s BCHL Championship.  What is a surprise is how quickly they accomplished the feat.

Penticton completed a four game sweep en route to winning the Fred Page Cup with Wednesday night?s 4-0 blanking of the Nanaimo Clippers at the Frank Crane Arena, marking the city?s first junior hockey title in 22 years.

Similar to the night before in Game Three of the series, the Valley First Vees got off to a quick start, jumping out to a 2-0 first period advantage, thanks to a pair of goals from the red hot Austin Smith.

Zac Dalpe and Brett Hextall padded Penticton?s lead to 4-0 after 40 minutes.

Despite being outshot 11-4 during a scoreless third, the Valley First Vees rode the usual strong goaltending of Alex Evin to the club?s ninth consecutive playoff win, as well as Evin?s 12th victory and second shutout of the post season.

Penticton?s ?special teams? were outstanding in Game Four, going three for five on the powerplay, while keeping the Clippers without a result on five opportunities with the man advantage.

The seemingly unstoppable Penticton Valley First Vees now face the AJHL Champion in the Best-of-Seven Doyle Cup, scheduled to get underway on Friday, April 18th at the home of the Alberta Champion.  Camrose currently leads Fort McMurray Three Games to One in the AJHL Final.  Depending on what happens in the first two games of the Doyle Final in Alberta, the next home game at the Penticton Memorial Arena would be either Tuesday, April 22nd or Wednesday 23rd, beginning at 7:00 o?clock either night.
