PENTICTON, B.C. – The Penticton Vees Junior Hockey is pleased to announce the signing of defenceman Julien Wasmer (’05) for the 2024-25 season, the team announced Wednesday.
Wasmer comes to Penticton after spending the last two seasons with the Smiths Falls Bears in the Central Canada Hockey League (CCHL).
“Julien will be going into his third season of junior hockey. His game has grown over the past two years, from being a solid defender to now showing the ability to create offense,” said Vees President, General Manager, Head Coach Fred Harbinson.“Adding additional experience on the backend to go along with our talented youth will make our backend again one of the major strengths of our team.”
The Montreal, QC, product finished fifth in team scoring during the 2023-24 regular season, after he posted 33 points (6G, 27A) in 44 games. Wasmer was the top scoring defencemen on his team. He added five points (4G,1A) in two playoffs games. In two seasons with Smiths Falls, the 6’3, 185-pound defenceman compiled 41 points (7G, 34A) in 88 career regular season games. He had 12 points (5G, 7A) in 19 career postseason games.
“I am proud and excited to join the Vees for the upcoming season. I can’t wait to get started,” commented Wasmer.
Wasmer won a silver medal with Team Canada East at the 2023 World Junior A Challenge in Truro, NS. Wasmer had three points (1G, 2A) in six games.
The left-shot defenceman is committed to the University of Maine.
The Vees organization is looks forward to welcoming Julien and his family to Penticton for Training Camp in September
