Vees Alum Stecher Assigned to Utica

Vancouver Canucks General Manager Jim Benning announced today that the Canucks have reassigned former Penticton Vee Troy Stecher to their American Hockey League (AHL) Affiliate the Utica Comets.

Stecher joins fellow Vees alum Mike Garteig on the Canucks’ farm team.

In four pre-season games with the Canucks, Stecher had a goal and three points and was a plus three. In his last game on October 8th in Edmonton, Stecher logged 20-minutes of ice-time and was a plus one.

Stecher signed with the Canucks this past summer after playing three seasons at the University of North Dakota, where he won the national championship this past April. Last season Stecher led all UND defencemen in scoring with 29 points in 43 games and was a plus 26.

The Comets open their AHL regular season schedule this weekend against the Toronto Marlies.
