Wednesday night the Penticton Vees defeated the Prince George Cougars 6-4. In game five of the best of five series Penticton and Prince George was tied at two a piece. Penticton?s Derik Johnson scored the first goal of the evening 15 seconds into the first period which turned out to be the only goal scored in the first period. Prince George scored the first goal in the second period followed by a power play goal for the Penticton Vees (Ryan Johansen from Jimmy Geerin and Devon Krogh) followed by a Prince George power play goal. Heading into the third period the game was tied at two a piece. There was lots of action in the third period. The Spruce Kings had a short lead when they scored 52 seconds into the third period. Less than two minutes later Curtis McKenzie scored an unassisted goal. The Vees had three goals in two minutes in the third period. The Vees scored their fourth goal of the night at 3:40 when Ryan Johansen knocked one in with help from Ryan Viselli, followed 40 seconds later with a goal by Max Grassi assisted by Brodie Reid. The Spruce Kings scored their last goal of the night at 16:10 on a power play to make the game 5-4 Vees. Devon Krogh scored the last goal of the evening at 17:28 with an assist from Curtis McKenzie.
The Penticton Vees have advanced to the second round of play offs. Round two starts Friday night in Vernon. The second round of playoffs is a best of seven series and will be played as follows
