Vees acquire Colton Kalezic from OJHL Toronto

Penticton, BC: The Penticton Vees announced today that they have acquired the CJHL playing rights to 1999-born forward Colton Kalezic from the Toronto Patriots in exchange for future considerations. Kalezic spent the 2018-19 season with the Tri-City Storm in the USHL.

From Toronto, Kalezic scored 11 goals and added 10 assists in 47 games with the Storm last season.

Prior to his time in the USHL, Kalezic played three seasons with the Ontario Junior Hockey League’s Patriots. As a rookie in 2015-16 he tallied 15 points in 48 games.

The following season he exploded offensively, racking up 48 points in 51 games. He then set career highs with 28 goals and 51 points during his final season with the Patriots in 2017-18.

In the 2018 OJHL playoffs, Kalezic scored 10 goals with 15 assists in just 17 games helping the Patriots reach the third round.

That season he also represented Canada on the International stage, being named to Team Canada East at the World Junior ‘A’ Challenge in Truro, Nova Scotia.

Kalezic tied for the team lead in scoring with two goals and four assists in six games and was named to the All-Tournament team. He was also teammates with Vees alum Mason Snell at the event.

Kalezic comes to Penticton with over 200 games of junior hockey experience, along with an NCAA commitment to Northern Michigan University for the fall of 2020.
