The power play was the difference early and goaltender Jordan White came through late as the Penticton Vees started defence of their BCHL title on the right foot .
Brodie Reid , Travis Ouellette and Curtis McKenzie scored first period goals and White made some big saves down the stretch as the Vees beat the Spruce Kings in the first playoff game at the South Okanagan Events Centre .
Adam Zamec scored and empty net goal to seal the win and both White and Genoe made 22 saves each.
Game 2 of the the best of five goes tonight at 7:05 at the Events Centre before the series shifts to Prince George for games 3 and 4 if necessary.
