Simon Meier named the BCHL Third Star of the Week

PENTICTON, B.C. – The B.C. Hockey League (BCHL) announced the Three Stars of the Week on Tuesday, and Penticton Vees forward Simon Meier has been named the Third Star for the week ending February 4th.

This the fourth time this season a Vee has been named one of the BCHL’s three stars of the week. Thomas Pichette, Callum Arnott, and Max Heise also factored into the BCHL’s three stars earlier this season.

Meier had four points in a pair of wins over Salmon Arm and Merritt on the weekend. Friday, the Regensberg, Switzerland product recorded his first career hat-trick and was the first star in the Vees 5-2 win against the Silverbacks. Meier scored the game’s opening goal in the first period, then scored twice more in the second period, including a critical insurance marker late in the frame.

Sunday, the rookie forward assisted on the eventual game-winning goal in the Vees 4-0 shutout victory over the Merritt Centennials.

Meier is averaging a point per game this season with 29 points (10G, 19A) in 29 games. The 18-year-old is committed to Northern Michigan University.
