NEWS: Vees Will Meet Clippers In Fred Page Cup Final; Begin Series On Friday, May 13th

PENTICTON, B.C. – The Penticton Vees will play for the Fred Page Cup and renew a long, storied rivalry against the Nanaimo Clippers in the BC Hockey League’s final round of playoff action beginning with Game #1 on Friday, May 13th at the South Okanagan Events Centre.

The Vees and Clippers have been linked to many great moments in BCHL history, including meeting in six Fred Page Cup Finals with each team having won three of the series’. Penticton earned victories in 1980, 2008 and 2015 while Nanaimo clinched championships in 1976, 1977 and 1978.

Penticton made their way to the league’s final series with 12 straight victories in the postseason, including wins in the Interior Conference Quarter Finals over the Trail Smoke Eaters in five games, Semi Finals against the Prince George Spruce Kings in four games and the Conference Final against the West Kelowna Warriors in four games.

Nanaimo has not lost once in the playoffs, winning each of their 12 games in the postseason while sweeping the Coastal Conference Quarter Finals against the Surrey Eagles, Semi Finals against the Chilliwack Chiefs and Conference Final series over the Langley Rivermen.

Tickets are on sale for the Fred Page Cup Final on Friday, May 6th at 10:00 AM at the Valley First Box Office at the SOEC as well as online at valleyfirsttix.com. Game #1 of the series gets underway on Friday, May 13th with a 7:00 PM puck drop at the South Okanagan Events Centre.
