NEWS: Vees To Hand Out Team Awards Virtually At Conclusion Of 2021 Season

PENTICTON, BC. – The Penticton Vees Junior ‘A’ Hockey Club announced on Friday the team will hold its annual team awards ceremony virtually and will take place on Monday, May 10th at 6:00 PM at the South Okanagan Events Centre.

The event will be streamed through the Vees Facebook & YouTube pages as well as on Shaw Spotlight, which has carried each of the games inside of the Penticton Pod during the 2021 Season, presented by Shaw. Traditionally held after the last regular season home game on the ice, this year’s event will remain inside the SOEC but with no fans in the building, due to the current Provincial Health Office restrictions.

Vees fans will have the chance to have their voice heard as the voting for the Fan Favourite award, sponsored by Elliott Row 4Her 4Him, is now open. Fans can cast their vote by CLICKING HERE with voting closing at 7:00 PM on Sunday, May 9th, following the conclusion of the Vees last game of the season against the Cranbrook Bucks.

A total of 13 awards will be handed on Monday, including:

  • Academic Achievement Award (sponsored by Home Hardware)
  • Vees on Vees Most Popular Player (sponsored by Kirk Chamberlain)

  • Leading Scorer (sponsored by Game Time Sports)
  • Best Defenseman (sponsored by Penticton Alumni Hockey Club)
  • Rookie of the Year (sponsored by BC Hockey Hall of Fame)

The Vees conclude their regular season of play this weekend as they face-off against the Trail Smoke Eaters on Saturday night before battling the Bucks on Sunday evening. Saturday’s puck drop is slated for 6:00 PM while Sunday’s start will be 4:00 PM with the game’s available to stream live on BCHLTV.ca as well as seen on Shaw Spotlight and can be heard on EZ Rock AM 800.
