NEWS: Vees Ranked #1 In CJHL Top 20 Rankings For Second Consecutive Week

PENTICTON, B.C. – The Penticton Vees Junior ‘A’ Hockey Club is ranked #1 in the initial Canadian Junior Hockey League’s (CJHL) Top 20 Rankings for the second week in a row.

The rankings are a weekly installment and are compiled by an independent scouting source. The Vees are ranked in the top spot after a perfect 8-0 start to their regular season, after winning a pair of games on the weekend against the West Kelowna Warriors. The Vees have a registered a BCHL-best 42 goals for while surrendering just 14 goals against in eight games.

Penticton captured a 3-0 victory over the West Kelowna Warriors on Friday night in their home opener at the South Okanagan Events Centre which saw Yaniv Perets post a 21-save shutout for his second consecutive blanking in as many outings. The Vees then travelled to West Kelowna to complete the weekend home-and-home set, scoring three times in the 3rd period for a 7-3 victory, their eighth in a row to begin the season.

The Vees return to home ice for a pair of games this weekend as they host the BCHL Showcase Festival presented by Bauer. Penticton faces off against the Vernon Vipers on Friday night at the South Okanagan Events Centre with puck drop slated for 7:00 PM. The BCHL Showcase Festival presented by Bauer is coming to Penticton on October 4th and 5th. 8 games with 9 different teams will take place at the SOEC with game times set for 10:00 AM, 1:00 PM, 4:00 PM and two Vees games at 7:00 PM.
