PENTICTON, BC. – The Penticton Vees Junior ‘A’ Hockey Club is pleased to announce defenseman Luke Vardy (’03) has committed to the team for the 2021/22 season.
Vardy, 17, comes to the Vees after playing for St. Andrew’s College during the 2019/20 season and was set to suit up for the program again in the 2020/21 campaign before the season couldn’t get going due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The 6’1”, 183-pound rearguard posted 9 goals and 21 assists for 30 points in 59 games played on the back end while adding 76 penalty minutes to his totals as well.
The Hammonds Plains, Nova Scotia native has had leadership experience in his young career as he was set to be an assistant captain with St. Andrew’s for the coming season while also representing his home province with an ‘A’ on his sweater at the Canada Winter Games for Team Nova Scotia in 2018/19. Vardy will have a bit of a tie to the Vees, having played with current forward Devlin O’Brien and former defender Jack Bar at St. Andrew’s during the 2018/19 season.
The Vees would like to welcome Luke and his family to the organization, South Okanagan and the City of Penticton.
