NEWS: Vees Defender Frank Djurasevic Commits To Merrimack College

PENTICTON, B.C. – The Penticton Vees Hockey Club is pleased to announce defenseman Frank Djurasevic (’02) has committed to Merrimack College.

Djurasevic, 19, is in his second season with the Vees after competing in the Penticton Pod Season last year as well as the Okanagan Cup. The 6’2”, 192-pound defender tallied 4 goals and 5 assists for 9 points during the 20-game campaign last season before adding a pair of assists in the Vees regular season-opening game on Friday night.

The New Rochelle, New York native was recently named to the Vees leadership group ahead of the season as he will wear an ‘A’ as an assistant captain for the team throughout the 2021/22 campaign. Djurasevic spent his time with Trinity-Pawling School and the North Jersey Avalanche before making his way to Penticton.

“I’m extremely excited to make my commitment to Merrimack and head to a school with great history and tradition,” mentioned Djurasevic, “I can’t wait to be a part of a great program and I’d like to thank my friends, family, coaches and teammates for helping me along the way.”

Merrimack College is located in North Andover, Massachusetts and play their home games out of J. Thom Lawler Rink and play out of the Hockey East conference. The Warriors are coached by Scott Borek, who is in his 4th season with the program while Merrimack features one Vees alumni on their roster in the way of forward Devlin O’Brien.

The Vees will continue their three-game home stand to open the season as they host the Trail Smoke Eaters on Friday night at the South Okanagan Events Centre. Puck drop is slated for 7:00 PM with tickets available for purchase online at valleyfirsttix.com as well as at the SOEC Box Office. The game is also set to be broadcasted on Bounce 800 as well as HockeyTV.com beginning with the pre-game show at 6:45 PM.
