NEWS: Vees Add To Crease With Addition Of Purcell From USHL

PENTICTON, BC. – The Penticton Vees Hockey Club is pleased to announce the commitment of goaltender Colin Purcell (’02) for the 2021/22 season.

Purcell, 19, comes to the Vees after playing each of the last two seasons with the Youngstown Phantoms of the United States Hockey League (USHL). The 6’7”, 205-pound netminder suited up in 32 games for the Phantoms over the course of his two-year tenure, posting a 4.50 goals against average and a .862 save percentage before making the move to join the Vees.

The Shaker Heights, Ohio native has showcased his talents on many stages throughout his career, including with the United States Under-17 Team in 2019 while also playing in the Hlinka Gretzky Cup for the USA in 2020. Purcell was named to the USHL All-Rookie Second Team during the 2019/20 season and committed to the University of Massachusetts-Amherst.

“I can’t wait to immerse myself with the team and Penticton community,” said Purcell, “I’m looking forward to meeting my teammates and making a push for the Fred Page Cup this season.”

The Vees would like to welcome Colin and his family to the organization, South Okanagan and City of Penticton.

The Vees will begin their 2021/22 season on Friday, October 8th in renewing a historic rivalry against the Vernon Vipers at the South Okanagan Events Centre. Season tickets for the upcoming campaign are now available to purchase with ticket packages available for as low as $9 per game.
