PENTICTON, BC. – The Penticton Vees Hockey Club announced Monday the signing of goaltender Mason Dunsford (’03) and have added him to the roster for the remainder of the 2021/22 season.

Dunsford, 18, comes to Penticton after playing parts of the last three seasons in the Western Hockey League (WHL), splitting time between the Tri-City Americans and Seattle Thunderbirds. The 6’1”, 174-pound netminder has suited up in 23 career regular season games in the WHL, collecting 3 wins over that span.

Prior to his time in junior hockey, the New Westminster, BC native played with the Burnaby Winter Club where he got into 23 games in his final year, posting a 16-5-2 record along with a 2.60 goals against average and a .916 save percentage.

“Unfortunately, Colin Purcell has had a health issue that we are hopeful he can overcome soon,” mentioned Vees President, General Manager and Head Coach Fred Harbinson, “In saying that, we have the opportunity to add another talented goaltender in Mason Dunsford. We will carry three goaltenders for the remainder of the season.”

The Vees would like to welcome Mason and his family to the Vees organization, City of Penticton and the South Okanagan.

The Vees (17-2-0-0) head back on the road for a Tuesday night clash against the Merritt Centennials (1-14-1-0) at the Nicola Valley Memorial Arena. Puck drop from the Nicola Valley is slated for 7:00 PM with the game being broadcasted live on Bounce Radio 800 as well as streamed on BCHLTV.ca beginning with the pre-game show at 6:40 PM.
