NEWS: Tyler Ho Lands Commitment To Lakehead University

PENTICTON, BC. – The Penticton Vees Junior ‘A’ Hockey Club is pleased to announce forward Tyler Ho (’00) has committed to Lakehead University for the 2021/22 season.

Ho, 20, enters the 2021 season as his second with the Vees after being acquired by the team halfway through the 2019/20 campaign. The 5’10”, 186-pound forward played in 42 games with Penticton a season ago, amassing 13 goals and 11 assists for 24 points over that span while scoring 4 goals and 5 points in 5 playoff games with all of his goals coming shorthanded.

The Surrey, BC native is a veteran of the Junior ‘A’ and Major Junior circuit, having played in a total 155 contests split between the BC Hockey League and Western Hockey League. Ho has suited up for 75 games in the BCHL over his career, split between the Vees and Vernon Vipers where he has scored 16 goals and 36 points. Ho was named an assistant captain by the Vees to begin this season in showing off his strong leadership abilities.

“The average fan might not see what a coach can see day to day out of a player,” stated President, General Manager and Head Coach, Fred Harbinson, “Tyler has been the consummate team guy both on and off the ice. Tyler is deserving of this opportunity and Lakehead University will come to realize they have a diamond in the rough once he puts on their jersey.

“In addition, Tyler’s commitment solidifies that each of our graduating players will continue their hockey careers next season,” continued Harbinson, “This means so much to our ownership and coaching staff.”

“I’m really excited to be committing to Lakehead University,” stated Ho, “They are a great city with a terrific hockey community. It will be exicting for me to play hockey out east for the first time. I’m looking forward to being at the school and can’t wait to join the Thunderwolves culture.”

The Vees would like to congratulate Tyler on the achievement and look forward to following his post-Vees career.
