NEWS: Niedermayer Takes Home Player Of The Week Honours

PENTICTON, B.C. – The Penticton Vees are pleased to announce forward Jackson Niedermayer has been named the BCHL’s Player of the Week.

Niedermayer, 18, is in his second season with the Vees and helped Penticton to a perfect start in the 2020 portion of their schedule with wins over the Vernon Vipers, Salmon Arm Silverbacks and Victoria Grizzlies. The Penticton, BC native earned five goals and an assist for six points in the three games, including his first career four-point night in Saturday’s 8-4 victory over the Grizzlies. Niedermayer also registered his first career BCHL hat-trick in the win.

The University of Arizona State commit has tallied 16 goals and 15 assists for 31 points in 40 games played this season with the Vees. Niedermayer currently sits 5th in team scoring while ranking 2nd in goals with Penticton through the team’s 42 games.

Niedermayer and the Vees return to action with their fourth Wicked Wednesday of the season as they host the Langley Rivermen on Wednesday night at the South Okanagan Events Centre. Puck drop is slated for 6:30 PM with tickets available for purchase at the Valley First Box Office as well as online at ValleyFirstTix.com.

The Vees will be paying homage to their 1955 World Championship team with retro jerseys and a weekend home-and-home against the Trail Smoke Eaters. Penticton will play Trail on Saturday, January 11th at the SOEC with a special ticket promotion available. A special price of $10.55 will be available with the purchase of a ticket to Wednesday night’s game. The promotion ends at 6:30 PM on Wednesday night. Tickets are available at the SOEC Box Office.
