PENTICTON, BC. – Hockey Canada announced Wednesday the players and staff who will take part in its virtual national under-17 development camp, set for July 19th to 25th, which includes incoming 16-year-old defenseman Josh Niedermayer.

The camp boasts 113 players in total with 64 forwards, 37 defensemen and 12 goaltenders, who will be split up into six teams for the week-long virtual camp, participating in a variety of sessions with a focus on player development through online education.

Niedermayer, 16, is set to join his brother Jackson for the 2020/21 season with the Vees and affiliated with Penticton for three games during the 2019/20 campaign. The 5’11”, 203-pound rearguard tallied 10 goals and 10 assists for 20 points from the back end in 36 games over the course of the season with the Okanagan Hockey Academy’s Midget Prep Red team.

The 2020 World Under-17 Hockey Challenge is set to take place in Charlottetown and Summerside, P.E.I., in November.
