PENTICTON, B.C. – NHL Central Scouting has released its preliminary Players To Watch list for the 2020 NHL Draft in Montreal, Quebec on Monday that includes Penticton Vees forward Danny Weight receiving a ‘C’ rating

The players to watch list is Central Scouting’s compilation of top prospects from all the major development leagues throughout North America and Europe. The list is updated throughout the season while scouts travel to evaluate the players live.

The players on the list with A ratings are considered potential first-round picks. Players with a B rating are considered possible second- or third-round choices, and those with C ratings are potential fourth-, fifth- or sixth-round selections.

Weight is currently in his first season with the Vees and has gotten off to a great start, scoring 6 goals while adding 6 assists for 12 points in 10 games played. The Lattingtown, New York native sits tied for 18th in BCHL scoring while ranking second on the Vees roster in points. The 18-year-old is tied for the team lead in goals (6), power play markers (2) and game winning goals (2) on the early season.

A Boston College commit, Weight is one of five BCHLers to crack the Players To Watch list, all receiving ‘C’ grades, by the NHL’s Central Scouting Bureau along with Chilliwack Chiefs forward Ethan Bowen, Nanaimo Clippers forward Kyler Kovich, Langley Rivermen defenseman Ryan Helliwell and Vernon Vipers defenseman Trey Taylor.

The Vees head back out on the road for a pair of games in the Island Division as they face-off against the Powell River Kings on Friday night. Puck drop is slated for 7:00 PM from the Hap Parker Arena with the game available for broadcast on EZ Rock AM 800 as well as HockeyTV.com beginning with the pre-game show at 6:40 PM with the Voice of the Vees, Trevor Miller.
