NEWS: Bottini Selected To Swiss Under-20 National Camp

PENTICTON, BC. – The Penticton Vees Junior ‘A’ Hockey Club is pleased to announce incoming forward Stefano Bottini (’02) has been selected for Switzerland’s National Under-20 Camp, taking place from July 14th to 25th in Cham, Switzerland.

The camp consists of 36 players vying for a spot on the Swiss Under-20 National team with 18 forwards, 14 defensemen and 4 goaltenders making their way to Cham to challenge for a roster spot.

Bottini, 18, is one of ten 2002-born players to crack the selection camp roster after having a tremendous season as one of the youngest players on his Under-20 Lugano team during the 2019/20 campaign. The 6’0”, 176-pound forward tallied 12 goals and 28 assists for 40 points in just 43 games.

The Lugano, Switzerland native showed very well on the International stage as well, playing in 14 total games for the Swiss U-18 team at various tournaments, including the Hlinka-Gretzky Cup. Bottini registered 2 goals and 5 assists for 7 points in that span and committed to play for the Vees in late March.

The 2021 World Junior Hockey Championship takes place in Edmonton and Red Deer, Alberta, slated for December 26th, 2020 to January 5th, 2021.
